Self discipline is everything. If you can conquer your physical and mental being, you can conquer anything in the world.
Today I wanted to start off by saying thank you to each and everyone of you who read and commented on last week’s vulnerable post. I was so overwhelmed by the love, and was shocked to hear from so many of you that you are or were in the same boat as me. That is what I love most about blogging, is being able to hear from so many different people and never feeling like I am alone in this journey. You all are such strong women and I was impacted so much last week to everyone who reached out to me, so thank you!
Today I wanted to talk a bit more about my weight loss food journey and also my holistic approach to my thyroid. I have tried so many different methods, and I finally figured out what worked for me and I saw results! 18lbs of fat gone, results!
The first two months of weight loss was my biggest change. I lost almost 13lbs in the first two months strictly by diet. Even during the Holidays, I still managed to stay on track and keep loosing weight. It was such a great feeling. After I felt a little weight loss plateau I decided to try a different method: Macro Counting. I had a friend create me a specific Marco Plan to follow to loose weight. It was hard, I kept miss counting and messing things up with occasional wine and sugar cravings. It didn’t work for me. After about 5 weeks of this I went back to what was working before. Marco counting is like a science, and it was too much of a journal logging, math counting, sucked the fun out of food, for me. Everyone is different, it works for so many people, but it just didn’t work for me. I went back to eating clean…
Discipline is doing what needs to be done, even if you don’t want to do it.
Self control and discipline. That is what it takes ladies. I stopped socially drinking. I stopped going to happy hours with my friends, I stopped going out 2 to 3 nights a week and meeting my friends for dinners and half off bottles of wine night. That was the first step, if you do the above, take a step back and reevaluate. This makes a huge impact on your body even when if don’t realize it.
I stopped eating processed foods. I began to eat clean. I cut mostly all dairy out of my diet. I ate the best protein sources I could find. I ate all the vegetables I could consume when I felt hungry. I ate carbs, the good carbs!
The most important thing I did was: I ate when I was hungry. I never starved my self, that slows down your metabolism and makes weight loss hard.
I started sleeping 8 to 10 hours a night. This is so important y’all. You have to rest, to loose weight. I know it sounds like a no brainier, but you really do. Sleep is so important to your body.
I asked one of my trainers, Journey Fitness & Detailing to create me a specific clean eating nutrition list. I asked them to break down and divide out what the best fats, proteins, and carbs were. I then started to take this Journey Food Nutrition Guide to the grocery store with me every couple of days. I kept a copy of the program on my phone and when I was out at a restaurant I used it as a guide of what to order at lunch or dinner. It helped me realize what the best protein, fats, and carbs were.
The energy I felt from changing my lifestyle to this type of diet was insane. I stopped needing 3 cups of coffee a day or my late afternoon Starbucks order. This helped my thyroid to stop trying to overreact from bad food and stopped it from attacking my body when I had too much caffeine pumping through me. I started to also take this all natural supplement to help with my thyroid energy level. I barely drink coffee now unless I just didn’t get a goodnight sleep. If I am feeling a little sluggish before my work out, I will take a half scoop of C4 Pre Workout.
I hoped this little break down of what I changed, what I started doing, and what I started eating helped a little. I highly encourage you to purchase the Journey Clean Eating Nutrition Guide and to keep it handy on your phone at all times. It will make you more aware of what you are consuming and will help you balance out your protein, carbs, and fats, which are all keys to loosing weight.
