Where to Stay:

>The Addison on Amelia Island

A recent review of our stay: (When you pick a place to stay especially a Bed and Breakfast you look for 3 things. Charm being the first along with location and amenities. The Charm of the Addison is everything you could ask for. The house is kept in order by a small staff along with an incredible wife and husband team. The first step into the lobby of the home I was greeted by Lisa letting me know that she had booked our couples massage and dinner reservations. This was apart of the romance package at an extra cost. We were then given a quick detailed tour as we walked through the home built in 1876. Beside the main house are 2 buildings for guest housing built to replicate the old house with a peaceful garden tucked in the middle of all three buildings. The room we choose was number 10, this suite had a more modern touch with coastal tans and whites. The highlight of our room was the double jet tub and balcony overlooking the garden. The location of the Addison is one block over from the main restaurants and shopping street. Giving you peace and quiet along with easy access into the main part of downtown. We were located 200 yards from David’s, which is my personal favorite restaurant in Fernandina. Amenities include bikes, garden, breakfast, beer and wine for cocktail hour. No they do not have a pool, but you are five minutes from the main beach and fort. Fernandina is a walking friendly town that has paths that could keep you busy for days, giving you scenery for downtown, beach, intercostal, woods all within 5 miles in each direction. Truly the best part of our trip was getting to meet couples from all over the country, giving you the feel of extended friends you have not seen in forever with the perfect amount of alone time sipping wine on the balcony with your partner. If BnB’s are not your style, pick from hundreds of rentals and hotel rooms on the island. This area is a must do if your looking for a great time and relaxing slow paced feel.)
