DIY Mirror and BIG WALL HELP NEEDED
A recent DIY, is a mirror that I received from my grandmother when she passed away. It is so beautiful and ornate and VINTAGE. It was in storage for about 8 months in Florida and when we were going through our old house I found it again. I knew I had to take it with us on our move. It just had to come. At the time I had no idea if I would even be able to use it, but I actually found the perfect home for it last week.
It was gold already, but chipped and peeled, and needed lots of work.
So I just decided that I would spray paint it, in gold again. Because I wanted it to match my bar cart that was in the Kitchen area with my new table that I blogged about the other day.

OKAY, here is where I need the help.
To the left of the room above is my kitchen:
I am actually standing in the problem room right now taking this photo.
I mean major problem room below about to be revealed.
AND i reveal it with utter shame.
I HATE THIS ROOM.
Mostly because it has 2 pieces of furniture in it that need to be hauled away so that I can start to have inspiration for it and get to work on it.
This room is a very important room. Its the first room you see when you walk in the house.
It has a huge bay window that is the front window to the house.
So this room can be seen from the road when the panels are back.
SO, I want to make a statement with this room.
It is going to be a reading lounge room.
I am going to put in it two white wing back chairs with a table in the middle of them.
Then I am going to have a white lacquer table with 4 chairs as a elegant mini dinning room table area as well.
Its going to have a lot of white in the room.
So, I think I want to make this wall a statement wall.
YA?
Here is the UGLY as can be room right now. I did not move a thing to take this photo. Honestly.
You can see all the light coming in through the window in the photo and shadowing the carpet.
Okay, so that big wall.
Here are my photos for inspiration.
I want to take the whole WALL and either do a feature CHEVRON pattern across it or stripe the wall ONLY, like the photo idea below, but just the wall not the whole room.
Or maybe I should not be that drastic and do something more common like a chevron painting:
What do you say? GO big or GO home and paint the WALL?!?!
Or make a small statement with a painted canvas of chevron instead? Remember this wall is huge!
So, I need answers! Leave me a comment with your thoughts?!!!

Go BIG !!! I love both the stripes & the chevron pattern. What if you framed out each end of the wall with bookcases or tall hutch to give architectural detail similar to the pic with the chevron wall. Loving all you have done with the new home…Can’t wait to see what you do !!
Go BIG !!! Love both the stripes & the chevron pattern. You could frame out each end of the wall with bookshelves or tall hutches to provide an architectural type detail similar to the chevron painted wall pic & a natural end point for the pattern. Loving all you have done in making the new house a home…can’t wait to see !
I would totally get a series (2 or 3 or 4) large canvases and paint the chevron pattern on them, each canvas being a slightly different hue (all in the same color though). That way, if y’all ever move, you can take those babies with ya, or move them to another room if you grow tired of them! Ohh and it was be super awesome to get curtains that match one of the hues of the paintings!
Can’t wait to see what you decide on! And LOVING that mirror. What a fabulous and sentimental addition to your home.
Ditto on the Go BIG! Do the wall! It will look awesome with the white furniture. I wish I could do it to one (or two) of our walls, but they are textured. 🙁
The mirror is fab – great job!
Go Big, i think going smaller can get lost in whole scheme of things . It will look AMAZING with the white furniture, i think going big adds a little more texture to a room and completes it 🙂 Cant wait to see what you do with the room.
Go big!!! I would check out the Caitlin Wilson Design blog- it is amazing! She is one gifted girl AND is a BYU alum, like me!
