Tiffany’s Fashion Night Out Experience

Tiffany, A contributing writer and Intern for Just Dandy.
Tiffany is going to share with you all,
her amazing experience in New York City last weekend at Fashion Night Out.
Hello Just Dandy readers!
I am thrilled to share my experience in New
York at Fashion’s Night Out with you guys!
Hopefully I can give you guys some pointers if you decide
to go next year, or want to bring FNO to your city!

First stop of the night?
Henri Bendel on the upper east side of course!
Here’s a photo the mad chaos.

Here we signed up for a fabulous makeover.
We were whisked right into hair and makeup, and then escorted to pick out our Marchesa gowns. Almost everyone who helped in our styling process actually worked at Marchesa – one of the designers was even there!

Here is a picture of my friend Laura and I in the Marchesa gowns that we chose.

Then we slipped on Louboutins and carefully selected jewelry
(Cinderella moment anyone?), chatted with Olivia Palermo, and hit the red carpet for some photos. Hmm… I could get used to this.
Olivia Palermo was actually really nice! We chatted about how she had just chopped off all her hair that day! I’m totally digging it, but I hear it’s getting mixed reviews; what do you think?

Next stop, right down the road to Saks Fifth Avenue!

Some of the celebrities and designers here include, Christian Siriano, Rebecca Minkoff, Zac Posen, Valentino, and Ed Westwick. (Cue the hordes of screaming gossip girl fans!)

Unfortunately I don’t have any great pictures from Saks,
but it was a definitely a great place to go on FNO!

We also wanted to see Rachel Zoe at Piperlime but I saw on my twitter feed early in the night that the line to get in was 3 BLOCKS LONG. I can just hear the girls in line saying,

“this line is bananas!” and “I die!”

After Saks, we headed down to the meatpacking district. As promised,
the meatpacking district was a huge block party. Home to Diane
von Furstenberg, Tory Burch, Alexander McQueen, plus many
other favorites, this area was overloaded with excited fashionistas.

  • Tiffany’s FNO Insider Tip: The meatpacking district area was more about the scene and the fashion, and the upper east side seemed to be more about celebrity appearances.

Here is a picture from DVF towards the end of the night.
 Lots of people!
(Remember when The City was filmed here?)

After checking out the scene in the meatpacking district for a while, we finally ended the night with a celebratory dinner at The Collective.

Overall, I think Fashion’s Night Out is such a unique and rare
experience. To my knowledge, designers and fashion lovers have never
been directly united in such large magnitude, ever.

What a great event!

I hope you enjoyed hearing about my FNO experience! I will be going
to NY Fashion Week again in February – if you will be there, I’d love to hear from you!

  • Tiffany’s FNO Insider Tip: It quickly became known during this event that cabs were next to impossible to get. This is expected, but from everyone I heard mention it, many people didn’t plan for it. I’d recommend hopping on the FNO bus, taking the subway, or setting up a driver through your hotel.

  • Tiffany’s FNO Insider Tip: Pick one place to really DO and do it well. Go to the place at the top of your list first. Early in the night, the champagne is flowing, hors d’oeuvres are abundant, everyone is excited and things are still organized. By the end of the night, in some places it looks like a fashion tornado hit – all that’s left is a scatter of champagne flutes, confetti trodden red carpets, girls with their heels in their hands.. you get the idea.
