Hair Blowout 101

Today I wanted to share with you some secrets that I use to keep my hair looking great in between blowouts and washes. I do not wash my hair every day. It is great for your hair to get oily and for your hair shaft to not be cleaned everyday. It keeps your hair healthy and shiny. Get creative with your hair and use the slept on hair for a new style the next day. If you curl your hair the first day, sleep on it, and wear it in a tousled bun or beach waves the next day. If you flat iron your hair one day, tease the top and put it in a straight slick ponytail the next day.
1. Wear your hair up when you sleep at night.
Put it in a high loose bun and apply some silk hair lotion to keep it in place when you sleep. When you awake the next morning and take down the bun, you hair will have a silky smooth look and lots of volume.
These two are great wrap lotions:

2. Use dry shampoo.
When your hair is feeling oily the second day from grease and products you can bring your blow out back to life with dry shampoo. You can also use dry shampoo after your work out by putting some on your roots and hairline.
Brush the dry shampoo through to the ends and style.

3. Use a texturizing spray.
When you are at the end of your blowout’s life the night before your next morning wash, try using a texturizing spray to get a scrunch look wave. This is a great tousled look for night.
A great texture spray:

  1. i use the foaming tresemme shampoo (it’s for curly hair, but mine is straight and it works fine!). i love the smell and it’s not flaky like the spray dry shampoo.

  2. my hair is naturally dirty blonde and i recently got it ultra highlighted for summer, so it has definitely dried out quite a bit from the bleaching. i’ve only washed it twice in a week!
my hair is thin and kinda dry, but my roots still get oily after a day or so, especially if i don’t blow it dry. i have really embraced the dry shampoo concept but since my hair is so light, i’m still just using baby powder. my hair stylist says there is no real difference, and that they just add scent to the dry shampoos. which would be kinda nice b/c who wants to smell like baby powder all day? but anyway. great post. and i love your product list!

Great tips! I do wash my hair every day just because I’m a little OCD. Ha! I love using dry shampoo. My favorite brands are Batiste (from Sally Beauty Supply) and Pssst (from drugstores). They both work well and smell nice (which is SO important!)

I have yet to try “dry shampoo” but this is definitely putting me in the right direction of what products try. Thanks for the tips!

  5. I just recently came across the Tresemme Dry Shampoo and LOVE IT!!

I used to wash my hair every day but now I am trying really hard to wash it every other day. Dry shampoo helps me a ton- I also use it for when I need more volume since my hair is fine and straight. I actually really like the new Suave dry shampoo, it works great and it’s cheap! Thanks for the tips, I definitely need to try the texturizing spray!

  7. Thank you Thank you for sharing all these products!! My hair does NOTHING…so I am going to try using some of these products and tips to experiment with some new hair dos 🙂
