Outfit of the Day: A Maxi Skirt

Honestly, I am not crazy about this look. I am not sure why I posting it here for you all to see because the photo quality is terrible and the sun is shinning right on my head. These photos are just bad, so sorry! I actually in real life wear what I blog, lots of blogs do not! I do not play dress up and just shoot for fun. I actually wear it all day and have Coach take photos of me sometime when we are together during the day. So again, sorry for the bad photos, but I wanted to show you the look anyways.

So many chic girls can pull off this darling look, but I for some reason feel kind of silly in this. This is just way out of my comfort zone. I bought this black Maxi skirt at H&M, and my simple stripe top is from a local boutique. How do you feel about this look on me? I tried to take some photos that made me look normal and cute, but they just did not come out as great as I thought they would. If you like this look on me, make me feel like it looks cute! Tell me what you think about this and what I can do to improve on the skirt and make it fit my style a little more. I need your opinions and help.

I can’t get into the maxi skirt/dress look either. I feel like it always looks like waaaaaay too much material on me.

  2. I know you said you were not a fan of the look, but I really like it!

  3. Try wearing it around your waist instead of your hips. That should help. I think you look super cute. I love wearing mine!

    looking fab!

  5. It is hard to wear something that you are not comfortable in. Not being comfortable in something can make your photos and attitude just seem . . . off. I like the way that this looks on you, but if you don’t like it, or don’t feel comfy, it can put a damper on what you wear. Some styles that are “in” are just not for everyone and that’s ok! I also admire that you actually wear what you photograph all day. I do so as well on my blog. Honesty is the only way to go! And PS-I love your striped top!

I love that you’re so “real”. I also only wear what I blog. I don’t just play dress up either. If I do have to change at the last minute (like a too low cut top!), I try to shoot a pic of that.

Love this look on you! It is difficult to wear something all day when you’re uncomfortable. Would you feel more comfortable wearing the skirt higher up w/ a wide belt?

I think it looks cute! I love the maxi on you. Maybe try pairing it next time with a simple white tee or solid colored top.
I am the same way and only post what I actually wear. I’m not a model so dressing up and posing for the camera in lavish looks isn’t my thing =)

I LOVE wearing maxi skirts and dresses! I agree with Ashley- you may what to wear it a little higher up on the waist versus the hips. Also, I always wear my shirts out (untucked) so you could try that!

maybe pairing it with a tank top instead of the long sleeved shirt. I think it is just too much fabric on you.

  11. it makes you look super slim! but then if you’re not comfortable in it then maybe it’s not meant to be 🙂 x

  12. I think it’s a cute look!! Is the skirt to big?? I’d get a smaller size and wear it high around your true waist! I’d also pair it with a wedge to just elongate the whole look!
