Outfit of the Day – American Prep
I first took the tie and wrapped it around my waist and tied it in a bow.
This gave me a form fitting look to my prep style blazer jacket.
The second take on the tie is I took off my prep blazer and took the tied tie to my waist.
I also used the hanging tie as a form of belt again and cinched in my waist on my dress and oxford.
The third take on the tie for this shoot was around my neck.
The normal use of the tie around my neck loose, simply as a necklace.
Which use of the tie was your favorite?
My favorite look is with the blazer and it in a bow, that is how I am wearing it right now. This look was out of the box for me but I really love the way it came together. I need to get creative more often when I style my outfits each morning. Thinking about them a little harder totally pays of and brings your look together.

Super Cute! So excited to see you rock the prep look : )
all these looks are very american prep but i surprised myself when i picked the last tie look as my fav! i’ve never actually worn a tie (pretty terrified for tomorrow) but this last look just flows!!
Ohmygosh so freakin’ cute! The first look is my favorite! I may have to steal one of Hubs’s ties. He has a similar one in orange w/ navy. 🙂 Love all the different looks you illustrated!

I love the first two looks! Super creative wearing it as a belt. I fully admit my husband had to help me out! http://imageenvy.blogspot.com/2011/05/bloggers-do-it-better-prep-school.html
That jacket is awesome! I was really surprised to see that it came from H&M! Frugalista win!
Each look is better than the last. The camera just loves you. My only suggestion is Get a better background. Why waste your prettiness on dandelions and blacktop (hey that sounds like a cheesy novel)…I also wore my tie as a belt. I like your execution better!
I’d love it if you would stop by and see how a 45+ year old handles “Prep School”—you might find something to smile about anyway! See you there! http://stillblondeafteralltheseyears.com/2011/05/menswear-american-prep-outfits-modeled-by-women-over-45-bloggers-do-it-better/

I absolutely adore the first take. Looks very Senior Girl ( A term denoted to seniors in secondary school in my country)Pairing with a white shoe would have been much, I agree with the nude.
